Reddam House Western Cape students achieve 2.5 distinctions per student and 21 placements in IEB’s Top 1% subject list

Inspired Education Group’s three Western Cape schools – Reddam House Constantia, Reddam House Durbanville, and Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard (ASB) – have delivered outstanding results in the Independent Examinations Board (IEB) National Senior Certificate (NSC) exams. The Class of 2024, consisting of 159 students, collectively achieved 390 distinctions across the three schools, averaging 2.5 distinctions per student. Reddam House Constantia contributed 288 distinctions, Durbanville 30 distinctions, and ASB 72 distinctions.

National recognition in IEB rankings

Within the IEB’s list of achievers in the Top 1% of subjects, 15 Reddam House students achieved this prestigious national ranking in a total of 21 subjects. The top achiever was Julia Monk from Reddam House Constantia who achieved a 1% ranking in three subjects. Sofia Bassios and Abigail Bester from Reddam House Constantia; Caitlyn Lourens from Reddam House Durbanville; and Vincent Bouchard from Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard achieved a 1% ranking in two subjects. Finally, Emma Catto, Leila Hibling, Azra Moonda, Matthew Oakes, and Tiago Do O’Filipe from Reddam House Constantia; Isabelle Alves and Luke Abrahamse from Reddam House Durbanville; Kirsty Finnie and Léna Wiroth from Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard achieved a ranking in the top 1% in one subject.

Three students from Reddam House Constantia – Abigail Bester, Kiara Bester and Julia Monk – achieved a national ranking within the top 5% in six or more subjects, placing them on the IEB Outstanding Achievement List. In addition, two students – Leila Hibling from Reddam House Constantia and Caitlyn Lourens from Reddam House Durbanville – were listed on the IEB’s Commendable Achievement List for achieving a national ranking within the top 5% in five subjects.

Exceptional achievements at Reddam House Constantia

  • Top achievers:
    • Julia Monk earned eight distinctions, achieving 98% for Mathematics and over 90% in Life Orientation, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Physical Sciences, Accounting, Music and Further studies Mathematics. Her overall average was 92.5%. Julia has been accepted to study a BSc in Mathematics in the UK and UCT. She says, “I've chosen this degree because I love the challenges that Mathematics provides. For the next few years my plans are to study and explore my opportunities.”
    • One of a twin at Reddam House Constantia, Abigail Bester achieved eight distinctions with a remarkable average of 92%, including 98% for Mathematics and over 90% in Life Orientation, Afrikaans First Additional Language, Economics, Life Sciences, and Physical Sciences. Abigail is an avid athlete with plans to study in America. She says, “Next year I will be going to Wingate University in North Carolina, America, where I will study something in a biology or chemistry direction, but haven't chosen a major yet. In the future, I hope to become a professional athlete and compete on the global stage.”
    • The other twin, Kiara Bester, earned eight distinctions with an average of 90.0%, excelling in Mathematics, Life Orientation, Life Sciences, and Physical Sciences. Kiara, who is also an outstanding runner, comments, “This year, I'm planning to study and run at a university in America, most likely a degree involving biology and chemistry. After running and competing at a collegiate level in America, I want to run professionally, and hopefully represent South Africa one day.”
    • Other notable achievers with eight distinctions include Sofia Bassios, Leila Cornish, Leila Hibling, Luca Canelli, and Olivia Geddes.
    • Matthew Oakes, Tiago Do O’Filipe and Keira Petersen excelled with seven distinctions each, achieving 99%, 97% and 93% in Mathematics, respectively. Additionally, York Eayrs achieved seven distinctions.
  •  School-wide achievements:
    • Eight students achieved eight or more distinctions: Abigail Bester, Julia Monk, Kiara Bester, Sofia Bassios, Leila Cornish, Leila Hibling, Luca Canelli, and Olivia Geddes.
    • Exceptional subject averages included 88% in French, 89% for German, 82% for Music and 81% in Life Oriention & Visual Arts.

Reddam House Atlantic Seaboard students shine

  • Top achievers:
    • Dean Avnit and Vincent Bouchard both achieved seven distinctions, with Vincent scoring 97% in Mathematics and over 90% in English, French, and Life Sciences.
  • School-wide achievements:
    • The school celebrated a standout 99% in French Second Additional Language and 90% for German Second Additional Language.
    • Dramatic Arts averaged an impressive 91% across the class.

Reddam House Durbanville builds on its reputation

  • Top achievers:
    • Luke Abrahamse earned seven distinctions, including over 90% in Life Orientation, Mathematics, Life Sciences, and Information Technology, with an average aggregate of 91%.
    • Caitlyn Lourens achieved six distinctions, including over 90% in Life Orientation, Mathematics Literacy, Afrikaans first Additional Language, and Business Studies, with an average of 88.8%.
  • School-wide achievements:
    • Maintained a strong academic reputation with a class average of 82% in Dramatic Arts.

National Results

Reddam House South Africa’s eight schools achieved an outstanding total of 1,178 distinctions in 2024, averaging 2.44 distinctions per student. The schools recorded a 97% Bachelor’s Degree pass rate, with 21% of students achieving an A aggregate overall.
