Early Learning School FAQs

Reddam House Early Learning School follows the unique Reggio Emilia Inspired approach, recognising and celebrating each child’s innate abilities and gifts through play and self-discovery.

Reggio Emilia is a teaching philosophy first developed in post-war Italy. Children are regarded as competent and capable in their own right, and the philosophy respects childhood as a time to explore, create and be joyful. The layout of the physical space at Reddam House Constantia has been designed to encourage choices, problem-solving and exploration.

Teachers are skilled observers who determine individual needs and build on existing gifts and talents. The approach is balanced and giving without undue academic pressure. The methodology encourages a sense of belonging and instils self-confidence in our young children. Their learning environment allows students to feel safe and welcome.

Documentation of work in progress is made visible on large panels throughout the classroom, thereby keeping the memory of the work vivid and alive. Learning through their play is of utmost importance as we develop happy, positive and curious thinkers. Reddam House Early Learning School has an unshakeable commitment to the individuality and fulfilment of each child.

In Stage 1 and Stage 2, we enjoy an excellent Music programme.

In Stage 3, Music, Art, Sporting Skills and Swimming are offered.

Stage 4 offers Music, Art, Sporting skills and Swimming.

For Stage 5, we provide Music, Art, Creative movement, Drama, Computers, Swimming and Sporting Skills.

In Stage 4 and Stage 5, we also introduce Muscle Mania. It is a programme offered by our Occupational Therapists in the classrooms to promote fine motor skills, motor planning, and visual motor integration.

Our teachers are guided by the needs of the individual children, with their regular sleep times considered. Sleep times are permitted during the morning programme or at Adventure Zone in the afternoon, This ensure that we do not disturb your child’s sleep routines and structures at home.

All parents pay for the teaching day, which finishes at 12:30pm.

At an additional cost, parents can place their children in the Adventure Zone to finish at either 3:30pm or 5:00pm. The charge payable depends on how long your child's teaching day is.

Red Deli provides all Early Learning School children with a delicious, healthy meal.
